This 1-day seminar is designed for anyone involved with supporting those in the Surfside community who have been affected by the tragedy. This includes pastors, business leaders, teachers, parents, first-responders, social service providers and more.
The event will include:

Four teaching components:

What is Trauma? - educates participants on the dynamics of trauma, the normal responses to trauma, the effects and ramifications of unresolved trauma (such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).

How to Recover from Trauma - provides resources and suggestions for the path to healing.

Caring for the Traumatized addresses how to recognize and manage trauma symptoms in others.

Self-care for the Caregiver will address vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue, and self-care remedies.

One therapeutic processing activity

Several group discussions and activities to interact with the content

Personal assessments for PTSD (PCL-5) and Compassion Fatigue/Satisfaction (Pro-QAL)

Handouts and resource lists

A morning and lunch break. Free break refreshments and lunch will be provided by the Church by the Sea for the in-person event.
